About YADI

A Pan-African institution built around agency.

YADI exists to expand the ideas, freedoms, and civic conditions through which young Africans can build enterprises, institutions, and a future of their own making.

Vision

An Africa shaped by young Africans.

An Africa where every young African has the freedom and agency to shape their future, create prosperity, strengthen their communities, and build institutions that endure across generations.

Mission

Youth Agency Development Initiative (YADI) is a Pan-African ideas institution advancing youth agency, economic freedom, and active citizenship.

Through research, education, and civic engagement, YADI develops ideas grounded in African experience, prepares young Africans to build enterprises and institutions, and champions reforms that enable them to participate in public life and shape the future of their communities, nations, and continent.

Our worldview

The African is not a beneficiary. The African is an agent.

What Afrocentric means to us

Africa as subject

Africans are actors in history, not merely recipients of programmes designed elsewhere.

African experience as evidence

African markets, institutions, communities, successes, and failures are sources from which ideas can be developed.

Dignity without romanticism

We take African agency seriously enough to celebrate what works and challenge what constrains freedom.
